DALLAS, TX (October 26, 2009) - A refreshing take on the Dallas culinary and nightlife scene debuts with DISH, a new restaurant and lounge opening in the mixed-use development Illume on November 5th.
DISH is the creation of Dallas restaurateur and nightlife guru Tim McEneny whose ventures have included obar, LIFT and Dragonfly at Hotel ZaZa and partner and concept chef Doug Brown, from Beyond the Box.
With a focus on fresh, simple and comfort, DISH diners can expect only the best ingredients melded together to create classic dishes with a twist at an affordable price. DISH's menu items range in price from $4 to $32. Described as "modern comfort food", DISH's menu features items you will want to eat everyday, with a revolving seasonal menu. Utilizing local farms and purveyors when available, DISH will serve everything from flatbreads from a gas-fired pizza oven to Fran's Texas Free Range Roasted Chicken using unique ingredients and accompanied by delicious sides. Menu items include Jimmy's Sausage and Fresh Mozzarella Flatbread, BBQ Braised Short Ribs with Lucky Layla Buttery Mash, and a Harris Ranch Natural Flat Iron Steak with House Cut Fries and Times Ten Cellars Cabernet Butter.
To compliment the menu, DISH will offer culinary inspired cocktails using fresh-squeezed juices, fruits and herbs, including the Strawberry Basil Margarita, a mix of Jose Cuervo Silver Tequila, Cointreau liqueur, strawberry puree, fresh lime and basil. In addition, DISH's wine list is carefully selected and molded to pair with our menu.
Not wanting to leave anyone out, the DISH team has created a Canine Friendly Patio.
Sure to become a go-to destination for patio and lounge lovers, DISH will host a happy hour seven days a week from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. offering $3 off all premium wells.
From the street, DISH's contemporary facade is framed by white glass and wood block walls assembled from thousands of pieces of end-grain red oak. DISH features a spacious covered patio with custom ipe wood cabanas and banquettes that subtly screen the patio from the street, while an ensemble of loose lounge seating comprised of LED illuminated tables, red poofs and white furniture allow guests to sip and socialize as well as dine alfresco.
The focal point of the patio is the floor to ceiling glass walls on the building perimeter that retract to showcase the interior bar, allowing an uninterrupted view of all the action.
The exterior theme of wood block walls continues inside the restaurant upon entering through a pair of glass doors where diners are greeted at a dark hot rolled steel hostess stand. To the left of the hostess stand is a glass-enclosed wine storage display with each wine bottle encased in a clear acrylic tube with lit edge.
The main dining room is centered around a one-of-a-kind polycarbonate chainmail drapery fabricated in New Zealand and highlighted with color changing LED lights. Another focal point is the open stainless steel kitchen allowing guests to see, hear and smell the culinary preparations. The modern dining area features wenge wood floors and an arrangement of dark stained tables with white circle open back chairs mixed in with black lacquer chairs. Chandeliers sprout from mirrored recesses in the ceiling creating an illusion of a view above the ceiling and revealing an infinite sparkle. Complimenting the main dining area are several raised banquettes with black vinyl seats and silver velvet backs positioned against amethyst crushed velvet drapes that create a warm and inviting atmosphere.
To the left of the main dining room is an elevated dining area. Setting the mood from restaurant to lounge, LED coves wrap the raised dining area and wash color across large sculpted wall panels.
At the front of the restaurant is a large 360-degree bar with retractable floor-to-ceiling glass walls that allow both indoor and outdoor patrons to participate in the high-energy of the bar. The bar features a white Corian top, dark hot rolled steel base, a large steel arch with illuminated shelving and black lacquered stools. Guests can also sip their cocktails or enjoy bites at the 10 seat communal table, which separates the bar from the main dining room.
The restaurant design was the vision of DMAC Architecture, a Chicago-based firm.
Late-night patrons looking for a spot to sip and socialize will find a sophisticated scene at DISH. Following dinner, the restaurant is transformed into a cool, laidback lounge. A raised DJ booth tucked away near the bar will be a platform for featured DJs to spin lounge music. Leading audiovisual company Clair Brothers installed a state-of-the-art sound system that promises to be one of the highlights of the DISH experience.
Located in the new mixed-use development Illume, DISH is a restaurant lounge concept from Owner Tim McEneny and Partner/Concept Chef Doug Brown. Serving modern comfort food, DISH's menu features fresh, simple food that can be enjoyed everyday at an affordable price. A live DJ, custom sound and lighting systems help transform DISH from restaurant to cool, laidback lounge. The 5,500 sq. ft. restaurant seats 156 and features a covered patio and several dining areas with distinctive design elements including retractable floor-to-ceiling glass walls on the building's perimeter, an open kitchen, one-of-a-kind polycarbonate chainmail drapery and LED coves that wash color across large sculpted wall panels.
